Isobel Caldwell is a musician who has crafted a sound that is “smooth as butter and warm as toast” (Trouble Juice). Hong Kong born and Naarm/Melbourne based, Isobel was raised on a soup of Simon and Garfunkel, Cold Chisel and the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack, honing a reflex of weaving together observations on the everyday, and their links to a boundless emotional world. Their debut album Duty of Care (2022) has garnered a deep love from listeners, a Folk Alliance Australia 2023 AFMA People’s Choice nomination, and the very high praise: “your album was the soundtrack to us moving to the country”.
Her artistry has led her to sharing stages with artists including Susan O’ Neill (IRE), Bumpy, Watty Thompson, Wild Gloriosa, YARA, Beryl, and Hana Stretton, as well as touring extensively and playing festivals including Bush Music Fest, Brunswick Music Festival and Sydney Road Street Party. Also appearing as ⅕ of alt-country favourites Quality Used Cars, and a founding member of cult soul/funk outfit The Mamas, Isobel is a multi-dimensional, genre defying artist drawing from every pore of her foundations and experience.
With “music that makes you want to squeeze everyone you love” (The BackBeat Podcast), Isobel is no stranger to the stage, and soon enough, no stranger to you.

Isobel Caldwell embraces those feelings of vulnerability and wears them like a badge of honour. Built around recurring themes of self-acceptance and growth, Duty Of Care is as reassured a debut album as youʼll ever hear, finding strength in lifeʼs uncertainties and in turn inviting you to celebrate them, warts and all.
